What’s happening, Web Communications?
March 2nd, 2009The Pulitzer is reinstating a rotation of posts from different departments, and we thought we might as well start with us. Over the past few months, the Pulitzer’s wee Web Communications Department (Rachel + me) has made strides in taking over the cyberworld–that is, creating more of a web presence.
My efforts include maintaining our Facebook and Myspace pages (please friend us). If you’re wondering who fliered your page with “Thanks for visiting!” over a photo of Joe, it was me in a process of meditative, repetitive mouse-clicking. I’ve also been experimenting with what mood face to choose for PFA’s Myspace status:
“Status: The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts is open Wednesday, 12-5pm. Just Now. Mood: luminous
“
Yes, there was confusion on Facebook, and our first page was deleted in the fall. Our new page now has over three hundred fans, and the numbers are growing. More photos have been added to the “Visitor’s Images” albums. My favorite fans have posted excellent reviews, and with hope, others will become more engaged with the page, starting discussions and responding to posts.
As something new, Claire Wolff, a practicum student, and I are creating the first e-newsletter for the Pulitzer’s Community Engagement Department. It will have an introduction to the Brown School and Pulitzer collaboration and summaries of their upcoming programs. Community Engagement will tell you more about that.
As an annex of the Pulitzer Foundation, our web potentiality should not only apprise people to the happenings in the building, but in the spirit of the Pulitzer’s mission and through the Internet as a medium, it should create another “place where ideas, programs, and discussions about art, architecture, and culture are cultivated.”

please change the settings on your RSS feed to include more than the first few words…including the full article would be best!
Thanks for the heads up! It’s fixed.
